The No Wave All-Stars

When: Fri., Nov. 8 2013
Total concept piece here from New York’s No Wave film movement in the '70s and '80s. This film — Rome '78 — has a bunch of no-name actors who were big in No Wave circles (Lydia Lunch, Eric Mitchell, James Chance, John Lurie, Lance Loud) enacting the Roman Empire on New York City streets during, you guessed it, 1978. This shit would have a sporting chance to go viral on YouTube today. At any rate, the filmmaker, James Nares, (a Jim Jarmusch pal) will be in attendance and will happily answer questions, of which you ought to have a few. The film screens in conjunction with a brand new exhbition at CIA’s Reinberger Galleries where Nares will also be featured, so go check that out too. The film screens at 7:45 tonight at the Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque, and if you’re wallet-conscious, how about a round of applause for free admission? (Allard)
