Time to get your freak on, Cleveland. For 16 years, Clevelanders Tommy and Gemma Viets have been presenting a showcase of all things fetish-related in their annual Organ Grinders Ball. Returning to the House of Blues tonight, this year’s fete — number 17 — will be no exception. If you haven’t been, Gemma Viets explains: “The ball is an introduction to the fetish community. It’s a fashion show, a playground, and an opportunity to get a feel for all the different things that are out there — from spanking and foot fetishes to bondage.” Despite being one of the longest-running fetish fests in the country, the ball continues to draw a crowd; 1,000 attendees is pretty typical, Viets says. Must be because of the laid-back vibe. “Anything that’s within the confines of the law is fine with us. We don’t judge.” Along with stage shows, demos, fetish-fashion models, pole performers, burlesque dancers, and a well-equipped space for voluntary play, the ball aims to please the pros and the just-plain-curious alike. “You can pick and choose whatever you’re interested in; everything is voluntary. You don’t have to dress up, but most people do. And if people-watching is what you like, you’ll not find any better than this!” Doors for the 21-and-over show open at 9; performances begin at 10:30 p.m. Admission is $25 at the door; cash only please.
