The Rough & Tumble’s Mallory Graham and Scott Tyler have a really great thing going for them. EPs like For You, Now That You’re Married...And For Me, Too offer glimpses into the duo’s sunny-yet-reflective moods. Dig the harmonies struck by both artists’ voices on “Not Polite,” an emotion-tinged tune built on the back of a meandering melody on an acoustic guitar. In particular, the way Graham’s voice wavers and cracks at times helps add the flourishes that take the Rough & Tumble’s stuff from good to great. There’s also the Holiday Awareness Campaign project, in which Graham and Tyler round up the unsung holidays of the year and set them to music. Images of Chattanooga, Tenn., have never sounded as nice as they do as the singers croon away on “MLK BLVD.” Search them out on bandcamp for the full listening experience prior to their arrival in Lakewood.
