The Screen Team

When: Fri., Sept. 13, 6 p.m. 2013
With an eye toward Cleveland’s industrial history, Zygote Press artist-in-resident Andy Curlowe has created Cleaveland, an exhibit featuring screen-printed flags, a large “geometric plume cloud” made from screen prints and a series of “pronto plate prints.” “While the booming populous of Cleveland has dwindled, the landscape and identity of the city continues to be reinvented within the abandoned storefronts and in the shadow and repetition of smokestacks,” explains Curlowe in a statement that accompanies the press release announcing the exhibit. In short, the exhibit is about how the “past informs the present.” It opens tonight at 6 at Zygote Press and the reception lasts until 9 p.m. (Niesel)
