The Selfie Show

When: Fri., Sept. 11 2015
Scene’s Visual Arts Editor (yours truly) was recently asked to jury the Northern Ohio Illustrator Society’s (NOIS) exhibition, The Selfie Show, at The Art Gallery in Downtown Willoughby. NOIS encouraged members to create and submit work that explored and expanded the definitions of a self-portrait, as well as themes like narcissism, selfishness, etc. NOIS required members to submit new work created specifically for the show and theme. The result is a fresh exhibition of all new, never-before-seen work. NOIS, a 501C-6 non-profit business league, was founded nearly 20 years ago. Its members include local and regional illustrators, and the organization offers free membership to students of the Cleveland Institute of Art. The Selfie Show opens with a reception from 6 to 9 p.m. today. The exhibition remains on view through Oct. 6. Free. (Usmani)
