The Speedbumps and the Canton Symphony Orchestra

When: Fri., Oct. 26, 8 p.m. 2012
Price: $18-$28
Kent’s the Speedbumps play organic folk-rock music that sounds a bit like Ben Harper, so it’s anyone’s guess what they have planned for this show, which pairs them with the Canton Symphony Orchestra. The press release for the gig tells us that the band uses a combination of “hollow-bodied instruments like cello, upright bass, ukulele, and acoustic guitar to create an eclectic but approachable sound, perfect for blending with a full orchestra.” Kent-based singer-songwriter Ashley Brooke Toussant, one of the area’s top talents, will join the festivities as well. It all sounds pretty promising, even if rock/orchestra combos often don’t live up to expectations. (Jeff Niesel)
