The Write Stuff

Award-winning author shares tips at the library.

Connie Briscoe signs Can’t Get Enough, her fifth novel, during her Cleveland Public Library appearance today. But she says she’ll spend just as much time advising budding writers how to get published. “I understand that burning desire to write,” she says. But there’s no “magic formula,” says the Maryland author. “There are few rules when it comes to writing.” Still, Briscoe -- who’ll dispense tips at today’s program -- must be doing something right. Her 1994 book, Sisters and Lovers, was nominated for an NAACP Image Award. And Can’t Get Enough -- about black desperate housewives -- is a hit with readers. “In the end, it really is up to you,” she says.
