Third Friday at 76th Street Studios

When: Fri., March 18 2011

You can shop, chat with dozens of local artists, and enjoy live music from the Cleveland Chamber Collective this evening without braving one single raindrop, snowflake, or blast of cold air. That's because it's time again for Third Friday, the indoor gallery hop at the 78th Street Studios. You'll find world-class galleries, artists' studios, and assorted entertainment — not to mention the highly anticipated cheap wine and yellow cheese cubes! — throughout the sprawling space that once was home to American Greetings' creative studios. (In fact, the five-building complex — dating back, in part, to 1905 — seems to enjoy a surfeit of artistic mojo, having once sheltered local talents like R. Crumb and Derek Hess, as well.) Among tonight's highlights, view an exhibition of regional watercolors at Kokoon Arts Gallery, attend the grand opening of streetscape artist Susie Frazier's showroom, watch artwork unfold at the collaborative Six in Studio project, and shop the 4th Coast Pop Up Market. Several galleries are holding receptions tonight as well: For an example, see the preview of Legation's Fluid Forms & Fleshy Coats, at right. It all happens from 5 to 9 p.m. at 1300 West 78th Street, one block north of Lake Avenue. For more info, call 440-503-5506 or go to 78thstreetstudios.com. — Cicora
