Toys Are Us

When: Sat., Aug. 9 2014
Tonight’s art show opening at Breakneck Gallery is like walking into a bizarre toy store. Featuring toys both local and international, these playthings range from the button-nose cute to the misfit and macabre. The artists who design them come from all backgrounds, with influences that range from comic-book superheros to Japanese teatime, and from European folk art to Mexico’s Day of the Dead. Many of these items are made from materials like plush and wood, so they’re even durable enough to give to your kid. The show opens at 2 p.m. today and there’s an after party at Spitfire Saloon when the gallery closes. You can check out toyboxcleveland.com for more information. (Trenholme)
