Treespeak/The Clock Reads

Funky prog-rock from Kent? Count us in. Treespeak came alive little more than a year ago, and we’re eager to see the Northeast Ohio jam scene embrace them as they play out more and more around the area. They’ve dropped some tracks online, so do check out stuff like “Fish Tank” and “Taboo Yü,” both of which evince a talented quartet with the sort of chops that lead us to believe we’re in for a treat at tonight’s show. Tune into guitarist Eli Bolick’s nuanced lead work on “Fish Tank,” where he cruises alongside steady rhythms and fresh bass lines that now and then rise to the top of the jam like cream. We’re betting that this is a band you’ll want to keep an eye on this year. (Sandy)
