Tribute Time

When: Fri., July 26, 7 p.m. 2013
Price: Free
You would be hard pressed to find a list of the best American rock bands that doesn't include Van Halen high up on that list. Eddie Van Halen redefined what was possible on the guitar and alongside vocalist David Lee Roth set the standard for metal bands in the ’80s and ushered in an entirely new style for the genre. Atomic Punks, a Van Halen tribute band, will bring all that ferocity to Lock 3 tonight for a free show. David Lee Roth himself even referred to the group as the best Van Halen tribute band ever in his 1997 autobiography Crazy from the Heat. The band’s bassist, Michael Anthony, has even joined Atomic Punks for two performances in the past and said that it’s like reuniting with the original band again. Although the real Van Halen is out touring again, Atomic Punks are still the most authentic experience out there that won’t break the bank. Colin Dussault opens the show. (William Hoffman)
