Turbo Suit/Thunder St. Clair

When: Thu., Feb. 5, 8 p.m. 2015
Price: Free
Formerly known as Cosby Sweater, Turbo Suit is one of the more up-and-coming electronica groups. The Indianapolis trio -- David Embry on production and vocals, Nicholas Gerlach on tenor saxophone and EWI, and Jeff Peterson on drums -- assembles the sort of out-of-the-box thinking that today’s electronic scene so desperately and always needs. Last year’s Party Dad EP proves just how accessible the band tends to be. This is music for dancing, music for chillin’, music for making coffee in the morning. “Open Mouth Kiss 2.0” sounds like a late-night sax jam in an outer space lounge. The band flips through motifs and moods like a blackjack dealer, tossing gold and destiny into unassuming hands. Due out in the spring, their forthcoming album, Out Here, will feature a really dazzling roster of special guests, including Jake Cinninger, Joel Cummins, Andy Farag (Umph!), Natalie Cressman (from TAB) and more.
