Turkuaz/Jonathan Scales Fourchestra

When: Fri., Jan. 2, 9 p.m. 2015
Price: $10 ADV, $12 DOS
This strange funk hydra from Brooklyn, has had a phenomenal 2014. Turkuaz's latest album, Future 86, comes as a the result of long stretches on the road, and the attitude dripping from every note makes that much very clear. More than anything, the album reveals how cohesive Turkuaz has become over the years. "It's a very collaborative process," guitarist Craig Brodhead tells Scene. "We have a trust in one another as far as how we're going to interpret various parts - especially the horns,” he said. Indeed, everything on the band’s latest album is bigger and funkier than previous efforts. They dazzle Cleveland each time they come ‘round these parts, and tonight should be no different. (Sandy)
