Vanishing Acts: Trees Under Threat

When: April 27-Oct. 28 2012
From Asia to the Amazon and from the Pacific Northwest to Northeast Ohio, the world is losing its trees. The threats include diseases, insects, and manmade destruction. It’s enough to make a tree hugger — or anyone who enjoys an apple, a Christmas tree, or the sound of a wooden violin — shed a few tears. But cheer up. Holden Arboretum’s new special exhibit, Vanishing Acts: Trees Under Threat, doesn’t just outline the problems: It gives some answers too, about ways to protect and conserve our forests. Created by Illinois’ Morton Arboretum, the traveling exhibit is displayed along an easy, self-guided trail. Interactive family activities and games are located at stops along the way, bringing the lessons down to earth. The exhibition continues through October 28.
