Waylon Speed/Empty Pockets

When: Wed., Dec. 11, 8 p.m. 2013
As the story goes, the guys in Waylon Speed formed the band after they all met at a local honky-tonk in Burlington, Vermont. Named after the son of guitar slinger Reverend Chitwood Hammaker, these guys describe themselves as “a cross between Metallica and the Lumineers.” The Metallica bit might be a stretch but the guys have a good roots rock edge to their jam band sound. Think My Morning Jacket if those guys rocked a little harder. (Niesel)
