Readers sound off on Lorain, cops, and Lorain cops

A City in the Sewer

Anyone who has ever lived in Lorain knows of the corruption that exists within the police department and city politics ["Excessive Force," March 2, 2011]. The whole city is going down the sewer at the hands of those that allegedly serve and protect. These guys all need to be brought to justice! We got the hell out of Lorain for good reason.

Long live rock

All the World's Garbage

I wish more journalists wrote articles like "Excessive Force," because this type of garbage exists everywhere around the world. I hope everything works out in Joe Montelon's favor. I actually feel afraid for him, because I know how these people operate. I truly hate crooked cops ... I hope they are all exposed.

It's Not Just Lorain

The whole justice system is corrupt, from the CIA, FBI, DEA, and all those other capital-letter organizations. American citizens need to wake up and realize that they could become a target for any of these groups.

As a black person, I have been aware of this for a lifetime. A lot of the time it isn't important if you are not guilty; getting their conviction rate is the only important thing. I won't say this ex-officer is getting what he has coming to him, but maybe it will help to make up for some of the injustices that he helped to cover up.

Still Eyeing the Lakefront

I am amazed that we are the seventh-best job market in the country, but they say you should judge from your own recent relevant experiences: My company has been hiring as fast as possible all year ["Cleveland Ranked 7th Best Job Market," at the Scene & Heard blog].

Think of what we have coming with the casino, the Medical Mart, the new bridge, the West Bank of the Flats, the new condos in Tremont and other projects around town. You just wouldn't know it from the way Clevelanders bitch about everything. Make Burke a boardwalk and create more jobs!
