When: Sun., Jan. 26 2014
A mathematically gifted high school student unknowingly causes a wave of destruction when he creates Love Machine, a computer program that murders people. If that doesn't catch your attention, the stunning animation in Mamoru Hosoda's Summer Wars will. In a maybe-not-too-distant future, a complex online society is built and Japan's society becomes reliant on the network known as OZ (cough–Facebook–cough). When Love Machine goes haywire, it threatens their entire reality. With drastically different animation styles between reality and virtual reality, Summer Wars merges 3D and 2D animation beautifully, creating a visually appealing experience. Full of humor, warmth and excitement, tonight's 7:30 p.m. showing at Cedar Lee is a one-time engagement. Tickets are $7.50. (Stoops)
