Philly's hottest dance troupe finally comes to Cleveland.

The Philadelphia Dance Company, more commonly known as Philadanco, is one of the country's oldest and healthiest modern troupes. Yet in its 36 years it has never played Cleveland. Tonight that changes, when the group brings its vast and diverse repertoire to Playhouse Square. "It's such a shame that it's taken this long to bring them here," says Pamela Young, executive director of Dance Cleveland, which hosts the show. "They have these amazingly talented dancers, who've come through a system to form a beautiful, cohesive company with a unique look."

The highlight of tonight's performance is choreographer Ronald K. Brown's "Gate Keepers" — a masterful blend of ballet, hip-hop, and African dance. "He has such an amazing intuitive sense, adapting to other dancers," says Young. Also look for David Brown's "Labess," "Suite Otis" by George Faison, and Christopher Huggins' "Enemy Behind the Gates." Says Young: "They're a perfect fit."
