Inspired by the tradition of Stylus fantasticus, J.S. Bach and his predecessors infused their music with virtuosity and daring improvisation. Violinist/director Alan Choo and 8 friends trace the path of composers who influenced Bach – including Biber, Pachelbel, and Weiss. Singers Rebecca Myers and Elisa Sutherland present a Buxtehude Cantata and selections from Bach’s Tilge, Höchster, BWV 1083 – a glowing transcription of Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater.
