Pardon our triteness, but there’s really no other way to put this: If you want to hear the next crop of Broadway talent — before it costs you $176 a pop — head over to Nighttown tonight for the Baldwin-Wallace Music Theatre Showcase. Featuring the entire class of 2012 (all 13 of them) from the school’s renowned Music Theatre program, the show is likely to be a revelation: Who knew there was such awesome vocal talent hiding out in Berea? Music director Nancy Maier just laughs. “A lot of people still don’t know we’re out here. But we’re one of the top-rated schools in the nation. In fact, we have talent coming here from all over the country: We may hear as many as 300 voices each year to just to fill our 15 slots.” Turns out, the seniors are just back from a NYC showcase where they were seen and heard by more than 100 agents and casting directors. So if a few of them don’t show up for tonight’s performance, it’s probably because they’ve already been signed. Regardless, tonight’s reprise of their Big Apple performance kicks off with a revue of old standards rendered by the school’s sophomores, who also have amazing pipes. It all starts at 7 p.m. Reservations are $10 by phone.
