Girls with Guitars

Lilith Fair, the Lollapalooza-like festival that tried to cash in on the ‘chicks that rock motif’ that was going strong in the ’90s, is to blame for concepts such as this locally produced “Girls with Guitars” program. The most notable act on the bill is perhaps Anne E. DeChant, the one-time darling of the Cleveland singer-songwriter scene who has since moved to Nashville and gotten plenty of good press down there, as well. Hannah Thomas, who has been described as an “outlaw songwriter,” and Tiffany Shea, a singer-songwriter from the Dallas/Ft. Worth area who’s just issued the double-disc Anthology compilation that provides a good overview of her bluesy sound, both share the bill. (Jeff Niesel)
