For over ten years, guitarist Jacob Blazer fronted the Ohio jam band Skinny. Two years ago, Blazer decided to go the solo route and took the singer-songwriter route. You can detect the difference in approach on his new EP, I Am Jacob, which opens with the catchy, Jack Johnson-like “Crazy,” a lazy lounge number with a tropical vibe. The rest of the EP follows suit as Blazer evokes Sublime in the track “Moving” and lays down some serious raps in “Goodbye,” a tune that has Spearhead/Michael Franti overtones. (Jeff Niesel)
