“Emotionless in Black” might be a more fitting name for Motionless in White. But the six-piece Pennsylvania metal band didn’t build the dedicated (dare I say, cult) following it’s had since 2007 for nothing. Creatures, its 2010 full-length debut, pitted the band’s image against its deep lyrics in a way that had you simultaneously cringing and singing alone (perfect example: “Immaculate Misconception”). Motionless in White sticks to the gothic background without forgetting the messages it wants to convey on its sophomore album, Infamous, which just came out this month. The first single off the new record, “If It’s Dead, We’ll Kill It,” adds synthesizers to the drum and guitar breakdowns. In the song, singer Chris Motionless describes his disgust with the entitled, suggesting that the medium isn’t necessarily the message for these guys. (Nikki Hunt)
