Notes from the Interior: A Guide for Romantics

Michael Marefka will debut a new collection which draws heavily from Fauvism, Les Nabis, and German Expressionism. Through the use of vibrant colors and gestural brushstrokes, Marefka seeks to create pictures that emphasize a sublime atmosphere, mood, and feeling. Marefka focuses on interiors, such as bedrooms and kitchens, where we spend most of our lives. He highlights these spaces and the moments we spend in them, illuminating seemingly mundane situations with romanticism. Photographer, Ali Scarpulla, will be curating floral arrangements for the show, and composer Buck McDaniel will offer a musical interpretation of Marefka's work.
