Cincinnati’s indie folk-rock act Over the Rhine has played a Christmas concert for the past several years, and the duo usually includes fan favorites in addition to seasonal songs that celebrate the holiday. The band — singer Karin Bergquist and keyboardist Linford Detweiler — first formed in 1989 and had a brief brush with stardom in the ’90s, when it signed to the I.R.S. imprint, the same label that launched the career of R.E.M. The band’s most recent album, The Long Surrender, is a terrific release that it recorded with Grammy-winning producer Joe Henry (Loudon Wainwright III, Ani DiFranco). Lucinda Williams appears on the disc and Henry co-wrote two songs with the band. Expect to hear tunes from this album as well as traditional Christmas songs at this annual holiday show that the band brings to Northeast Ohio. (Jeff Niesel)
