Pure Colors: Pastels From the Cleveland Museum of Art

Opening this weekend, Pure Color: Pastels from the Cleveland Museum of Art celebrates works created using pastels from the second half of the 19th century through the early 20th century. During this period, works on paper were increasingly valued, collected and exhibited. As the exhibition reflects, the period was marked by richly diverse creativity and experimentation in the use of these materials. Pure Color includes work by Impressionists like Edgar Degas and Mary Cassatt, Post-Impressionists Odilon Redon and Cluade-Emile Schuffenecker and Modernists such as Otto Freundlich and Gino Severini. Pure Color: Pastels from the Cleveland Museum of Art opens today and remains on view in the Prints and Drawings Galleries through Sunday, March 19, 2017. Free. (Usmani)
