Robin and Linda Williams, a husband/wife singer-songwriter duo out of Virginia started performing way back in 1971 and then got some help from one Garrison Keillor, who gave them some good exposure when he had them on A Prairie Home Companion. Keillor has a good ear for good folk music and that’s what the Williams duo provides. Their latest album, last year’s These Old Dark Hills, is a beautiful collection of tunes so authentically rural sounding, it sounds like they were composed while sitting on the front porch. Backed by an act they call Their Fine Group, the Williamses are an American folk treasure that fans of newfangled neo-folk acts such as Mumford and Sons and the Avett Brothers would do well to discover.
