Michael Chabon and his wife, author Ayelet Waldman, will open the 2013-14 William N. Skirball Writers Center Stage season at Playhouse Square this evening. Chabon’s obviously well-known for his Pulitzer-prize-winning The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay, but you’ve probably read, or at least heard of, a few of his others as well (Mysteries of Pittsburgh? The Yiddish Policeman’s Union?). He’s a genius and a wordsmith, straight-up. His wife, Waldman, has written a few mystery books and the New York Times bestseller, Bad Mother. Though her biggest claim to fame is being married to Chabon, she’s a master storyteller as well. This series tends to be pretty pricey — $30 a pop, regrettably — but if you’re a big fan, it’s worth it to hear Chabon talk. Should be a treat to see the probably really high-brow interactions of married writers as well. It’s at the Ohio Theater at 7:30 p.m. (Allard)
