On its debut EP, last year’s Casual Encounters, local pop-punk act Tracy Morgan Freeman offers up five sharp songs that feature parched vocals and snarling guitars. Opening number “Falling Out,” is a bitter break-up song that sounds like something from a slightly noisier Weezer. The title track revisits the same theme but offers a more palatable pop sound and the lurching, stop-and-go approach on “Walk Alone” sounds like one of those alt-rock anthems that got heavy airplay in the ’90s (Everclear’s “Santa Monica” is a good point of comparison).
