Have you been itching to do a night out at a hipsterish subterranean bar in Akron? Are you positively sick of live music / IMAX movies / Cleveland sports and just want to hear some motherloving poetry? Do you need some love in your life? Boy can we ever relate. Tonight, head on down to Annabell’s Bar in Akron for The Big Big Mess, a monthly reading series that’s become something of a regional cult attraction. Five poets -- including several award-winners and one from Denton, Texas -- will read in the twilight haze of a beat-inspired basement while writers and florally tattooed apostles congregate on assorted couches and pool tables and sip on cheap cheap cheap beer. Poetry! Pool! Also there’s a raffle with thrift store goods between each reading, and you’ve got like a 50 percent shot at taking something home, so that’s sort of a quirky perk. Look, it’s free and it’s fun and it’s a change of pace. Don’t be shy.
