Woe Is Me/Chunk! No, Captain Chunk!/Our Last Night/Secrets/Capture the Crown/the Seeking
When: Fri., Nov. 30, 6 p.m. 2012
If there is a bolder move for an up-and-coming metalcore band than covering a Ke$ha song, it’s yet to be done. The seven members of Atlanta’s Woe, Is Me released their version of Ke$ha’s “Tik Tok” before even recording their debut Number[s]. After that record’s 2010 release, the band gave cheesy pop another shot with Katy Perry’s “Hot and Cold” for Punk Goes Pop 3. Though they’ve mastered adding rough vocals and heavy riffs to radio-oriented pop, they’ve also managed to put out two full-lengths, most recently Genesi[s], which just came out this month. Expect it to make up the bulk of the set you’ll hear tonight. (Nikki Hunt)
