Chef Sawyer Earns Final Spot in Beard Awards

This morning, the final nominations were announced for the 2014 James Beard Awards. In the category of Best Chef: Great Lakes, Jonathon Sawyer of The Greenhouse Tavern earned a final spot. He is the only Cleveland chef included on the list.

Back in February, the James Beard Foundation announced its list of chef semifinalists, on which Douglas Katz of Fire Food & Drink was included. Earlier this year, the James Beard Foundation announced its America’s Classics awards, which included Sokolowski’s University Inn and owners Bernard Sokolowski, Mary Balbier, and Michael Sokolowski.

The James Beard awards will be held on May 5 in New York. Dante Boccuzzi of Dante and Ginko will be cooking at the Gala.
