Cleveland Pickle Celebrates Four Years with Half-Off Sandwiches

On Friday, March 11, the downtown sandwich shop Cleveland Pickle will be turning four years old, a remarkable feat given that the wee shop has been concealed by construction scaffolding for most of that time. Owned and operated by Kiaran and Josh Kabat, the shop is located at 850 Euclid Avenue, near E. Ninth Street.

Kabat call his sandwiches "Nu-Skool," preparing close to a dozen Cleveland-themed creations. The Terminal ($9), for example, combines Black Forest ham, brie, mustard and apricot jam in a soft 8-inch sub bun. The Classic Pickle ($10) is a meaty Italian-themed hoagie with capicola, sopressata, prosciutto, provolone, and a spicy pickle relish. The Payne Avenue ($9), a twist on the Vietnamese banh mi, features airy pork meatballs, fresh cilantro, carrot threads, lime and kicky adobo spread.

To commemorate its 4th anniversary, the shop will be slashing the price of every sandwich in half from open to close (11 a.m.-4 p.m.) on Friday March 11th.

“Our customers are the true reason we have enjoyed so much success,” says owner Josh Kabat. “What better way to show our appreciation than to celebrate by having an anniversary party!”

Kabat has been hosting such an event for the past three years, drawing such huge crowds that a line forms around the block.

"We anticipate the same thing this year, so get there early to avoid the rush!” he warns.

Also of note: Dilly the live pickle-themed mascot will be on hand to entertain the crowd and provide comic relief.
