Northeast Ohio’s craft brewing scene, which dates back to the founding of Great Lakes Brewing Co. in the mid-1980s, has thrived to the point that it now includes nearly 50 brewers. Some 19 breweries have opened in the region since January 2016.
The folks at Destination Cleveland have just announced that they’ll spread the good word about our local breweries at this year’s Great American Beer Festival, which takes place from Oct. 5 to 7 in Denver.
For years, Cleveland-area brewers have participated in the event, but this year marks the first time that Destination Cleveland will be on hand. The Brewers Association has invited the organization to be part of the first Craftbeer.com #beertravel Pavilion. As a result, Destination Cleveland will have a Cleveland-branded booth in the Craftbeer.com #beertravel Pavilion.
The pavilion will also include reps from popular craft beer destinations such as the Colorado Front Range (Boulder, Estes Park, Fort Collins, Greely, Longmont, Loveland), Denver, Grand Rapids, Memphis, Oakland, Santa Rosa, St. Petersburg and Tampa.
According to a press release about the event, the Destination Cleveland representatives will “talk up Cleveland and our beer scene with the help of Cleveland Brew Bus and other participating brewery representatives (Saucy Brew Works and Butcher and the Brewer).”
Cleveland area breweries such as the Brew Kettle Taproom & Smokehouse, Great Lakes Brewing Co., Fat Head’s Brewery, Masthead Brewing Co., Sibling Revelry Brewing, Working Class Brewery and Willoughby Brewing Co. will represent Northeast Ohio at the event.
