Drink of the Week

Cucumber Margarita @ Momocho

What seemed weird in 2006 has gone on to become a best seller: the vibrant Cucumber Margarita at Momocho. "It's become unbelievably popular," says chef-owner Eric Williams, and with good reason. Unlike its lesser kin, this $8 refresher is clean, crisp, and never too sweet. "I tell people it's like a salad in a glass," says long-time bartender Mike Smith. "It's healthy drinking!" We'll leave that call to the medical wonks. But for margarita fans, this smooth, light, and deceptively restorative blend of pureed English cucumbers, Gran Gala orange liqueur, a bit of fresh-squeezed lime juice, and Sauza Blanco tequila — poured into a tumbler rimmed with a kick-ass combo of kosher salt, dehydrated lime, and chile powder — may take imbibing to a whole new level, where dancing on the tabletops is not only encouraged, but mandatory. And exercise is good for you, right? Momocho is at 1835 Fulton Rd. in Ohio City. Learn more at 216-694-2122 or momocho.com. — Elaine T. Cicora
