The jury's still out on the real meaning of C2's moniker: Does the name of the Intercontinental Suites ' new restaurant stand for Cleveland Clinic? Citrus 2.0? Or Cultural Cuisine, as officials claim? In any case, the restaurant in the newly rebranded "wellness" hotel on the Clinic's campus focuses on healthful Mediterranean eats, created by charming French chef Vincent Cachot. Healthful, yes; but that doesn't mean the cocktails aren't as kick-ass as ever. Take the vibrant Wasabi Bloody Mary ($9), a zesty blend of Belvedere Vodka and homemade Bloody Mary mix goosed with wasabi in place of the more common Tabasco. The burn is still there. But now it's mellow and aromatic; a celery-salted rim helps the flavors soar. The zippy remix earned a Best Cocktail award for creator and C2 GM Brandon Norris during his recent stint in a Flagstaff martini bar. Here, it's the anchor for a handcrafted cocktail collection that is as au courant as any in the city. Monday through Friday happy hours run from 4 to 6 p.m. and include specials on beer, wine, and cocktails as well as 10 percent off selections from the hearty lounge menu; take your picks out to the pretty patio while the season lasts.
