Attention, ladies: If your inner Earth Mother has been itching to come out and frolic, Peninsula's
Blue Heron Bookstore and
Crooked River Herb Farm Shop have partnered up to provide the perfect playground: a series of three Sunday-afternoon gabfests that will get you back to nature before you can say "methylchloroisothiazolinone."
Even the titles make us feel like putting flowers in our hair: Let's Talk Herbs and Other Fun Stuff (Feb. 25); Heirloom Tomatoes and Other Good Garden Stuff (March 18), and The History of Soap Making (March 25). Each program will run from 2 to 4 p.m., at the independently owned bookstore in the heart of the Cuyahoga Valley. Cost is $15 per; and attendance is limited to 15, so as "to encourage casual, open discussion." Advanced registration is required, by calling 330-657-2332.
Crooked River's main mama, Kathleen Varga, will provide the herb tea, snacks, and treats; Blue Heron's literary lady Debbie D'Andrea will stock the shelves with related tomes. As for you, just bring your questions, cooking tips, recipes, and a holistic sense of humor.
