Kamm's Corners is the centerpiece of Cleveland's West Park neighborhood. Long a vibrant residential community, it has also developed into one of the best entertainment districts in Northeast Ohio. With that distinction comes not just great drink, but also tasty cuisine. Herewith, five Kamm's Corners establishments dishing out fantastic foods for $10 or less.

The Public House

Dublin Onion Soup ($4.29)

Irish Egg Rolls ($5.39)

Standing tall and proud years before West Park gained regional notoriety, the Public House continues to be the beacon of Kamm's. This quaint watering hole kicks out some authentic and creative Irish fare. My suggestion is to drop in one night when it's offering live entertainment and order both the Dublin Onion Soup and the Irish Egg Rolls. The soup is house-made with a blend of secret spices, served with the traditional croutons and topped with baked provolone cheese. The egg rolls are as unique as they sound: three hand rolls stuffed with cabbage, corned beef and Swiss cheese. Irish stomachs are definitely smiling here.

Si SeÑor Mexian Restaurant

Tilapia Fish Tacos ($9.99)

While I enjoy Mexican-inspired cuisine as much as the next person, I also yearn for the real deal. Si Señor is a truly authentic Mexican joint, owned and operated by first-generation Mexican Americans. Rogelio Hernandez Cervantes and his family know how to cook. Along with the unreal fajitas that leave a smoke trail from the kitchen to the table, my choice is the tilapia fish tacos. Three corn tortillas are grilled to perfection, with a generous portion of marinated and grilled tilapia resting on top. So as not to take away from the simplicity of flavor, everything else is served on the side. Pico de gallo, sour cream, and lettuce decorate the plate. If that isn't enough, the dish is also served with Mexican rice and house coleslaw.

Panini's Bar and Grill

Capicola Panini ($7.50)

Full disclosure: I had a financial interest in this restaurant at one time, which I sold. But I remain convinced that for budget food, there's nothing better than French fries and coleslaw slapped in the middle of a sandwich. Since this Pittsburgh-based chain opened its first shop in the Flats, it's grown into an award-winning, full-service sports bar/restaurant chain in Northeast Ohio. After a long night of listening to some live blues at Smedley's or dancing to the DJ at West Park Station, people line up and order sandwiches like the Capicola Panini with a fried egg. There is something about the spiciness of the Italian salumi playing perfectly with the oil-based coleslaw, fried egg, and crispy fries. The softness of the bread and the acidity of the tomato complete this Picasso of a sandwich.

Backstage Bar

Lemon Garlic Parmesan Chicken ($9)

This popular location along the entertainment strip of Kamm's offers sought-after promotions, killer music, and a high-energy vibe. Along with the great atmosphere, the folks at Backstage have worked hard to bring a cost-effective, chef-driven menu to their establishment. Whether you're dropping by for lunch or dinner, I would suggest their most popular item — the Lemon Garlic Parmesan Chicken. Served over a bed of bowtie pasta, it's put their kitchen on the map. Lightly tossed in a cream sauce with fresh spinach and tomatoes, this dish will satisfy both the heartiest and lightest eaters, moving your taste buds from backstage to the VIP area.

Peace, Love, and Little Donuts

Disco Dozen ($10)

What set of words go together better, unless you're talking George, John, Paul, and Ringo? Inspired by the era when the Beatles were next to God, this doughnut shop is a great place to feed your inner hippie at 1965-inspired prices. My choice for both value and variety is the disco dozen. This psychedelic array of doughnuts allows you to choose four from each of the shop's three categories: groovy (sugar-coated), far out (frosted), and funkadelic (specialty toppings). With flavors that include Oreo, bacon and maple, S'mores, apple pie, M&M's, and Girl Scouts' Samoa, these are no ordinary doughnuts. If this is how sweetened fried dough tasted in the '60s, find me a time machine!
