Making a shopping list and heading to a grocery store may soon be a thing of the past.
With the recent announcements that Giant Eagle and Acme Fresh Market are set to offer their own in-store pickup and home delivery options locally, many Northeast Ohioans may never have to set foot in a grocery store again.
Working to keep up with customer demand, and increasing delivery
competition, the two grocery chains are now part of a growing trend to make shopping even easier.
"We are excited to take this unique convenience to the next level with an innovative home delivery solution, giving customers access to nearly our entire store without ever having to leave home," a Giant Eagle spokesperson said in a statement.
Eight participating Giant Eagle and also Market District stores will offer
Curbside Express services for 38 ZIP codes in the Cleveland area. Customers can choose from more than 45,000 grocery items online, including pretty much everything but booze, cigarettes, greeting cards and prepared hot foods. An added $12.95 completes a home delivery order.
Meanwhile Acme Fresh Market is set to launch their services at
OrderAcme.com. Delivery options are available for most cities with an Acme location, but in-store pickup will only be at Akron locations. The first 30 days are free, but then, depending on ZIP code, home grocery deliveries will run you an added $10 to $15, with an addition $4.95 for the shopping.
