Mistie Hray told the Akron Beacon Journal this week that Grandpa's Cheesebarn has been flooded with calls from people around the world recently asking if they do international shipping for their beef jerky. (They don't.)
The new global interest in the Ohio favorite and I-71 landmark, it turns out, is thanks to The Try Channel, a YouTube series from Ireland that, as the name suggests, tries different things.
This month featured beef jerky from Grandpa's, which included rave reviews for the product itself and dick jokes — grandpa's meat, why did they put a penis on the label, etc.
Hray told the Beacon Journal that while friends and staff have appreciated the video, she won't be sharing it with her parents, who started the company back in 1978, or her grandparents, due to some of the jokes.
Incidentally, both her father and grandfather are named, you guessed it, Dick.
