Michael Symon to Open First Italian Restaurant – in Atlantic City

Cleveland native and celebrity chef Michael Symon has partnered with Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City to open a new restaurant. It will be his first Italian restaurant.

“We are thrilled to bring Michael Symon to Borgata with the debut of his first Italian restaurant,” Becky Schultz, Vice President of Food & Beverage for Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, says. “Equally famous for his soulful cooking and joyful personality, Chef Symon is recognized among the best in the country and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome him into our culinary family.”

Symon, who operates Lola, Lolita, Roast and B Spot burger bars, as well as being a co-host on ABC’s “The Chew,” grew up with Greek and Sicilian parents. Mediterranean cooking has always been a heavy influence at his restaurants.

“We're excited to bring our Italian cooking to Atlantic City,” Symon says. “This is the food I grew up eating – my Sicilian grandmother would be proud! Authentic Italian is very simple; it’s all about great ingredients. It's what I cooked in my early career and still what I like to make at home.

Symon joins his pals Bobby Flay, Geoffrey Zakarian and Wolfgang Puck, all of whom operate eateries at the entertainment complex.

“I can’t wait to be a part of the Borgata family of restaurants and spend even more time with my fellow Iron Chefs and friends, Bobby Flay and Geoffrey Zakarian," he says.

Located in Atlantic City’s Marina District, the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa is a 2,000-room hotel with 161,000 square feet of gaming.

They are anticipating a fall 2016 opening.
