And check back Friday for C-Notes' Picks of the Weekend. Monday: Taste a sample of Europe as 25 prominent foodies plate up dishes with locally grown produce at Let’s Get Fresh to benefit the North Union Farmers’ Market. The buffet of grub mirrors that in countries like France and Germany, where towns rely on food harvested in their home regions. And chefs like Flying Fig’s Karen Small and Lola’s Derek Clayton will prove it from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Eton-Chagrin Boulevard Market, 28601 Chagrin Boulevard in Beachwood. An $80 ticket gets you all you can eat. Call 216-751-7656 for the details. Tuesday: Canada’s acclaimed string ensemble, Bowfire, camps out on Playhouse Square for a one-night-only performance in support of their eponymous DVD. Recorded live in Ontario a year ago, the disc spotlights the group’s 15 members playing jazz, bluegrass, and Texas swing on fiddles, cellos, and percussion. Showtime is at 7:30 p.m. at the State Theatre, 1519 Euclid Avenue. Tickets are $31 to $51 by calling 216-241-6000 or visiting www.playhousesquare.com. Wednesday: Cleveland bands command the DJ booth at B-Side Liquor Lounge for the club’s weekly Rock Stars Are Not DJs. The mission is to give barflies a chance to hear the latest tracks that local rockers are grooving on. The spins start at 9 p.m. at the club, which is under the Grog Shop at 2785 Euclid Heights Boulevard in Cleveland Heights. Thursday: Of all the Cleveland clubs and restaurants celebrating Mexico’s hugest celebration of the year, Zócalo snags the prize for starting its Cinco de Mayo party early. Between today and Monday, its menu boasts nothing but specials, including $5 margaritas and $6 Mexican car bombs. The restaurant’s authentic guacamole and tamale combos cap off the fiesta at 6 p.m. Zócalo Mexican Grill & Tequileria is at 2071 East 4th Street. Call 216-781-0420 or visit www.zocalocleveland.com.
