Prime Beachwood Place Resto Spot Claimed by Pub Chain

One of the premiere restaurant spaces at Beachwood Mall has been vacant since early 2012, when McCormick & Schmick's Seafood Restaurant closed after five years in operation.

Come November, that highly visible space will become The Pub, a Cincinnati-based restaurant concept heavy on British kitsch, ale and pub grub. The chain has locations throughout Ohio, Kentucky, Florida and Tennessee, with one local spot remaining at the Cleveland Hopkins Airport. A Rocky River outpost of the operation lasted just four years.

"We are excited to be joining the Beachwood community and look forward to providing our local patrons and visitors with a unique and memorable experience," says Scott Schmidt, chief operations officer.

The Pub's exterior will be modeled after the classic corner pubs of London, while the interior will be filled with furnishings and fixtures imported straight from jolly old England. The bar's centerpiece will be a lengthy handcrafted wood bar featuring inverted optic pourers, the upside-down bottle storage and serving systems popular throughout Europe. The food menu will include typical British-themed fare like Scotch eggs, fish and chips, and bangers and mash.

The Beachwood location also will feature a "Pour Your Own Wall" allowing guests to pay by the ounce and pour their own pints.
