"Let's go get tanked at Bike Night! Everyone's doing it!"
Gina Lazzarelli doesn’t come across as your stereotypical biker chick when she’s on the road as a commercial-window saleswoman. But let her slip out of a business suit and into a leather jacket and watch her work the room for Scoundrels’ Bike Night every Tuesday. “I think my clients would do a double-take,” laughs the 26-year-old Lazarelli, whose boyfriend turned her on to the biker lifestyle four years ago. During this down-home bar’s happy hour, Baldwin-Wallace coeds co-exist with biker clubs over their afternoon cocktails, as the kitchen crew plates up dirt-cheap steak dinners with French fries, cole slaw, salad, and rolls for $4.99. At 8:30 p.m., the acoustic-rock Wooden Ships duo of Joe Rieg and Doug Price clears the stage for an open-mic jam session. While Lazzarelli prefers to watch from the sidelines, her hog-riding buddies usually grab the mic for a chorus or two of “Freebird,” “Sweet Home Alabama,” and other Lynyrd Skynyrd staples that only bikers can appreciate. “There are bike nights, and then then are bike nights,” she says. “If we’ve heard about them, we’ve been there. And this one is, by far, the coolest one around.” Happy hour starts at 3 p.m. at Scoundrels, 826 Front Street in Berea. For more info, call the club at 440-234-3455. – Cris Glaser
