Six Shooter Coffee Roaster and Café to Open this Fall on Waterloo

Add Six Shooter Coffee Roasters to the growing roster of commercial tenants moving into the Waterloo district of N. Collinwood, which appears now, more than ever, at a tipping point in terms of real progress. In the coming weeks and months, the area will welcome Citizen Pie pizza café, a farm-to-table bistro from Luxe Kitchen owner Melissa Cole, a Mexican concept in the former Key Bank Building, and a relaunched Waterloo Brew from Alan Glazen.

Since moving to Cleveland from Columbus a year and a half ago, Peter Brown has been roasting up small batches of coffee for sale at farmers markets, at The Grocery OHC, and to breweries like Platform for brewing purposes. For that same length of time, he’s been planning to open this coffee shop.

Six Shooter will occupy the 900-square-foot storefront of a long-dormant building at the corner of E. 161 St. and Waterloo. Brown will reside upstairs in the renovated apartments.

“I want to be a part of a rebounding Cleveland community,” he says. “I think Waterloo has a lot of potential. If you look at neighborhoods like Hingetown even four years ago… And then places started going in and now it’s incredible.”

Neighbors will come in for their morning pour-overs, espressos, and drip coffee. They’ll be welcome to hang out, have some snacks provided by a partner bakery, and peruse the local art on the walls. In back, Brown will continue with his small-batch roasting operation, hopefully expanding its retail and wholesale reach.

“I encourage people to hang out,” Brown says. “I want this to be a staple in the community. I have always wanted to have an impact on whatever community I’ve been a part of.”

Brown is shooting for a September or October opening.
