If you are a Cleveland vegetarian and haven’t tried Greenhouse Tavern’s Pulled Barbecue Mushroom Sandwich, what in the tofu-filled world are you waiting for?

Restaurant Hospitality Magazine named this delectable Carolina pulled pork-inspired sandwich the best Vegetarian dish between two slices of bread on its list of “Best Sandwiches in America 2015.”

The sandwich, for the uninitiated, consists of mushroom shreds slathered with a Carolina-style BBQ sauce with stout vinegar and stadium mustard, and piled high with smoked coleslaw, tofu mayo and lettuce. All this can be yours for just $12.

Here's what the judges had to say:

“What Sawyer has done here is phenomenal. Just look at it. Here’s a mushroom sandwich that eats so much like a pulled pork sandwich, that everyone on staff would happily order it. We tip our hat to Greenhouse top dog and Beard Award winner John Sawyer, because his restaurant goes out of its way to prove that vegetarian items can be as exciting as anything else on the menu.”

The East 4th item wasn’t Sawyer’s only accolade, however. Sawyer’s Trentina restaurant serves a tofu and eggplant sandwich that received honorable mention in the same Vegetarian category. The Greenhouse Tavern’s Spicy Chicken Sandwich also took home second place in the magazine’s Chicken Sandwich category.
