Zagat Survey of Cleveland’s top restaurants

It’s time again for the Zagat Survey of Cleveland’s top restaurants, a once-every-two-year opportunity for devoted diners to weigh in on the region’s most notable eateries. This time around, volunteer “surveyors” will be asked to rate and review as many as 65 of the area’s most notable eateries – ranging from casual joints like Sokolowski’s University Tavern to such elegant boites as Giovanni’s, Muse, and Sans Souci – on the basis of food, décor, service, and estimated meal cost. Anyone who has visited one of the listed restaurants during the past year is qualified to vote. Those who cast their votes by June 10 will receive a free copy of Zagat’s 2008 America’s Top Restaurants guide when it is published in the fall. And voters who come up with especially witty, clever, or insightful comments may be chosen to win a $100 gift card. While critics contend that Zagat’s “volunteer surveyor” process is little more than a popularity contest, the listings do provide helpful information, especially for out-of-towners.
