6/9: Friends With Benefits improv jam

Posted By on Mon, Jun 8, 2009 at 8:00 AM

You’ve got a few options if you attend Friends With Benefits’ improv jams. Co-founders Kimberly Pride and Deena Nyer Mendlowitz started the comedy troupe last year, pegging each of their shows to a fundraiser (they helped send Shaw High School’s marching band to the Beijing Olympics and they’ve aided victims of Hurricane Olga, for starters). Their jams are free and open to audience participation. You can sign up for a 20-minute set with performers you’d like to work with, or you can throw yourself into the audience pool and let the group pair you with equally funny strangers. Or you can just show up and watch. E-mail info@fwbimprov.com if you want to perform. It starts at 7:30 p.m. at Visible Voice Books (1023 Kenilworth Ave., 216.961.0084). It’s free. — Michael Gill
