7/18: Walk + Roll/All Access Tour

Posted By on Thu, Jul 16, 2009 at 8:00 AM

Lois Moss credits Ward 15 Councilman Brian Cummins with connecting her Walk + Roll bicycle program to the Brooklyn Center Home Tour. She says Cummins recognized that the usual way of getting people though a house tour — trolleys — could be augmented with other kinds of transport. They mapped out four bike loops through Brooklyn Center, with stops at houses like the one built by the Brainard Family in 1840 that’s been owned by only two families since then (they’ve kept the décor and furnishings intact). By taking the tour on bikes, people can move at their own pace, rather than waiting for the trolleys, which set off at 11:15 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. from the Gavin Lee Party Center (3315 Broadview Rd.). It’s free. Go to walkroll.com or call 216.870.0057 for more info. — Michael Gill
