7/25: Déjà Vu at Pop Shop

Posted By on Thu, Jul 23, 2009 at 8:00 AM

David Kay’s cut-vinyl renditions of pop-star portraits reveal traces of light and shadow from the original photos, so the viewer ends up thinking more about the pop icons than about the artist’s role in creating the pieces. Kay shows a collection of rockers through the ages — ranging from Keith Richards to David Bowie to Björk — in Déjà Vu, a one-night only silent auction with prices starting at $10. “It’s always better to sell something for a little rather then not selling anything at all,” says Kay. It happens from 6-9 p.m. at the Pop Shop’s (art)ificial Gallery (17020 Madison Ave., Lakewood, 216.227.8440). Admission is free. — Michael Gill
